What are we studying? While considerable research exists regarding the impact of emerging technologies, there is still a gap of empirical research examining their actual influence on sustainable development.
What are our major contributions? This study makes three key contributions: identifying 37 Industry 4.0 technologies linked to sustainable development in smart cities, highlighting those with the greatest impact on sustainability, and grouping related technologies into nine principal components that support sustainable development in linear infrastructure.
What’s next? Further research will explore specific sustainable development strategies and their connection to Industry 4.0 technologies in infrastructure.
