“Columns” is not your structural system
Did you already perform research on the structural systems available for your project? First you need to explore all the options and investigate about structural systems for your type of project.
Ask yourself if the elements on the structural system selected complement your design concept and architecture
Is the structural system defined and justified? Before covering dimension of elements, you need to select a structural system first. This decision should be based on: design concept, spatiality, context, materiality and sustainability. Usually I suggest to construct a decision matrix to justify this decision.
How have you selected a structural system? Have you consider all possibilities?
It’s important that the decision to select a certain structural system is thoroughly justified. Ask yourself what are the most important aspects in your project (weather? context? architectural concept? population?…). It is likely your project prioritizes various aspects, so I recommend to construct a decision matrix. We can go deeper in this point at our meeting.
