These are my highlights from the academic perspective
Digitizing the future of the construction sector
A joint task we have between private sector, public sector and academia. Many are the learnings after the BIMCO2023 event, and from the academic perspective these are my highlights:
► In the Digital Transformation of Higher Education in Colombia panel, Daniel Ronderos Lopez presents the BIM Academic Forum Colombia, a forum constituted for the promotion and dissemination of BIM from the Colombian academia, also mentioning how the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Universidad de los Andes have been imprinting BIM in the academic culture. Alfredo Montaño Bello tells us how Jorge Tadeo Lozano University has been associating #BIM to the design workshops in Architecture and Nelly Garcia Lopez from the Faculty of Engineering - Universidad de los Andes from the multidisciplinary work. I had the opportunity to tell from the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana the new conception of campus infrastructure as a learning laboratory, largely supported by BIM.
Different academic approaches that contribute significantly to training and research in the digital transformation of construction.
► Guillermo Herrera, President of Camacol, presents the results of the BIM 2023 National Survey, emphasizing two particularities of the academy: we are the second BIM Academic Forum (BAFC) in Latin America, standing out for associating academia as a fundamental sector in the advancement of construction 4.0. Also, we have a lot for work ahead especially in strengthening and creating programs from the National Qualifications Framework of the Ministry of Education.
► I was very happy to meet with several people who have gone through the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana: Juan Pablo Peña Osorio (C. E. graduate) presenting the impact of BIM in the value chain and the measurements that have been made from Soletanche-Bachy Colombia, Alan Mateo Delgadillo Ortega (C. E. graduate) being one of the winners of the BIM Excellence Award with his company Ascend - Dream it, we BIM it, Nicolas Ortega Restrepo (M. C. E. graduate) as assistant, and Sandra Patricia Jarro S. (first C. E. woman career director) as speaker from Universidad de La Sabana.
Thanks to all of you for the interesting learnings and for continuing to inspire and promote digitization in the construction industry with your valuable contributions.
I have no doubt that we are making progress in strengthening the digital transformation in the country, and we still have a lot of room for improvement. Trust in academia from the industry is important to generate alliances and projects in which each party contributes from its strengths. From the #University and the #BAFC we have the doors open to listen to ideas, collaborate on projects and continue to move forward in digitizing the construction sector.
Thanks to Camacol Colombia Katherine Bobadilla Cruz and the BIM Forum Colombia #BFC for the invitation and organization.
